NAME: Zenitsu Agatsuma
CANON: Kimetsu no Yaiba
CANON POINT: End of chapter 53
AGE: 16
BACKGROUND: A brief history on his wiki
PERSONALITY:
Dirt. Coward. A waste of time. Having grown up without parents or siblings, or even a single friend willing to stand by him, Zenitsu's self-worth has been trampled through the ground by those who judge him based on what they see on the surface: a meek, cowardly boy who gives up quickly and never follows through. It becomes a self-perpetuating cycle the longer it goes on: the more people leave him behind, thinking him useless, the more he believes himself to be useless. Why bother trying if everyone thinks he's just going to fail? It's not like he's accomplished anything thus far in his life, so they must be right. Everyone hates Zenitsu, but there is no one that hates him more than he hates himself, for being unable to meet even the simplest expectations others have of him. He tries, he really does, and underneath it all he truly does have the strength and talent needed to make a name for himself, but he's always the first one to foil himself by thinking (and believing) that he just can't do it. What does physical strength matter if one doesn't have the mental strength to back it up?
His non-existent sense of self-worth leaves him highly vulnerable to the manipulations of others. Because he's so desperate for positive attention and for someone to look at him with kindness and warmth, he attaches himself to anyone willing to give him the time of day, even if their intentions are less than good. It definitely doesn't help that he's a gentle soul underneath it all, believing that everyone around him, too, is fighting to survive like him, animals and creepy spiders included. It lands him into trouble, and into a mountain of debt, and it's likely he wouldn't have made it to his twenties if he hadn't been rescued.
His anchor comes in the form of an old man: Jigoro Kuwajima, a former Pillar of the Demon Slaying Corps and a man Zenitsu affectionately nicknames 'Gramps' despite Jigoro's insistence that he be called Master. He takes in a debt-riddled, snot-filled Zenitsu and makes the boy one of his two disciples, training them into becoming future Demon Slayers. This is not a training that Zenitsu relishes by any means; it's tough, it's endless, and Jigoro's method of encouragement is to smack his students until they cave. His fellow disciple Kaigaku certainly doesn't help matters, constantly calling Zenitsu a waste of Jigoro's time and someone not worth training. It's enough to cause Zenitsu to run away, time and again, though each time he's chased after and dragged back. It's this unwavering loyalty Jigoro displays that cements himself as a mentor and father figure, and as the most important figure in Zenitsu's life, with Kaigaku a surprising second. They are his tiny family, something he's never had before, and he holds the two of them close to his heart as he stumbles his way through training, determined to do his best against all odds.
Jigoro gives Zenitsu the seeds of a dream: to become strong, to be able to protect someone he cherishes, to become a Pillar and prove that all those hours spent on him were worth it. Though Zenitsu continues to cry and complain, he begins to take his training more seriously, even forgoing sleep in order to train in secret on his own. His work pays off eventually when he manages to master the first Breath of Thunder style, and though he doesn't think much of being able to perform the most basic of basics, it's an accomplishment that fills Jigoro with no small amount of pride. Don't give up, don't run away, hone this one skill until it's beyond perfect.
Easy to say, but harder to do in practice. Though Zenitsu trains and trains, and survives the Final Selection (something he considers a stroke of luck), a handful of years spent under the rough but patient tutelage of one man aren't quite enough to transform him from withering wallflower to someone brave and confident. He still cries, he still complains (often and loudly), and he still desperately tries to find affection and love where there isn't any, much to the chagrin of the many girls he often accosts. (Speaking of girls, he has an almost unhealthy obsession with them, objectifying them behind their back while trying to act cool and suave in front of them). Still, when push comes to shove, Zenitsu will pull his wobbling legs together to try his best in protecting those precious few that have stuck by him long enough to become his dear friends. The thought of Gramps moves him forward, and though he passes out from fear half the time, he never fails to prove that he has what it takes to achieve his dreams.
POWERS/ABILITIES:
God Speed - Primarily used as a complement for his Breath of Thunder First Style, this technique allows Zenitsu to dash at extreme speeds for a short burst of time. He's only able to use it twice before the muscles and stamina in his legs give out and render him useless.
INVENTORY:
MOONBLESSING: Sanguis

POWERS/ABILITIES:
- Enhanced Hearing - Zenitsu was born with an extremely heightened sense of hearing, which beyond allowing him to pick up sounds most others can't, allows him to get a sense of a person's intent by 'hearing' the sounds associated with said emotions (likely the combination of heartbeat and breathing changes). He can also hear the differences between humans and demons and animals, as well as hear what others are saying about him even while asleep. In rare cases, he can even hear what people are thinking. NOTE: I will be putting up an opt-in post for this and will not be using this without player permission.
- Swordsmanship - Zenitsu is trained in the art of wielding a katana. Though his talents are acceptable while he's awake, it's when he falls unconscious (usually due to fear) that his skills really kick in, instinct and years of muscle memory rising to the forefront to take the wheel.
- Total Concentration Breathing - A skill that most demon slayer corps members strive to learn, though few master it. In essence, it allows a user to improve their stamina and physical strength by altering their breathing patterns to take in more oxygen. It is also the basis for breath-style combat techniques that many demon slayers use.
- Breath of Thunder - One of the five main breath styles, one that focuses on strength and explosive power in the legs. There are six main styles of the Breath of Thunder, though Zenitsu can only use the first.
- First Style: Thunderclap Flash - Essentially a rapid dash and slash forward. There are two variations, Six-fold and Eight-fold, dependent how many dashes the user takes.
- * Seventh Style: Flaming Thunder God - An original style that Zenitsu created with the intent of fighting alongside his fellow disciple, composed of a number of rapid slashes that evoke the movements and image of a dragon.
* He hasn't mastered this style as of his current canon point and will not be using it in game.
